What Makes Us Different
We pair professional and lived experience to provide a fully authentic mental health approach.
While Sage Nestler, MSW is educated in the full scope of social work with an emphasis in mental health – his approach incorporates his lived experiences. He is neurodivergent, and lives with several severe mental and physical illnesses. He is also gender diverse and panromantic.
Sage utilizes his experiences as a queer, neurodivergent person with disabilities and multiple mental illnesses to inform his work.
Sage Nestler, MSW’s lived experience, education, and work give them a unique, empathetic insight into queer mental health. Their holistic approach blends theory and practice to offer inclusive, innovative care and initiatives.
At Releasing the Phoenix, we prioritize professionals who combine lived experience with formal education, ongoing training, and relevant certifications to deliver authentic and effective mental health care. Our team members are all part of the queer community, bringing personal insight into the challenges of mental health concerns and stigma. This lived experience extends to those who have supported queer loved ones in their mental health journeys.
By engaging specialists who have direct experience with various conditions, we are able to broaden our range of services while maintaining a compassionate, culturally sensitive approach. This commitment ensures that the care we provide is both genuine and tailored to the unique needs of the queer community.
