What Makes Us Different

I am educated in the full scope of social work with an emphasis in mental health & policy, but my approach incorporates

lived experiences

&

preventative education with skills training

Professionals with lived experience influenced my approach

Throughout my life, my mental health diagnoses have varied or changed.

Most of the time, diagnosis depended on the provider I saw.

I have also experienced misdiagnosis based on prejudice or ill-informed professionals.

It was professionals with lived experience who provided me with more care and compassion than any others.

Their compassionate care inspired me to combine professional with lived experience in all areas of holistic mental health.

This is why everyone I work with, including team members, collaborators, or those who I refer folx to, come from a stance of pairing professional with lived experience.

We are in the trenches with you, working side by side to bring you the care and compassion you deserve.

Preventative mental health education & skills training

Too often, folx only learn about mental health, skills, & illnesses after reaching the point of needing treatment and receiving diagnoses.

This is where preventative mental health education & coping skills come in.

While I do work with folx who already have diagnoses and have sought out treatment, I also provide education and coping skills to strengthen prevention. This is why I chose to focus on mental health coaching and education upon graduation with my MSW.

I wanted to help bridge the gap between self-education and the clinical level of mental health.

My one-on-one and group coaching, as well as education initiatives, are geared to help folx learn about mental health, preventative strategies, and identifying possible symptoms.

This includes:

  • Education surrounding emotions - including how they work & how to identify them

  • What emotion regulation is - the different types, & skills on how to regulate

  • How habits form - including identifying unhealthy habits & setting the groundwork for creating healthy ones

  • Identifying things queer folx encounter that can contribute to poor mental health - such as invalidation, exclusion & attempts at erasure

Having worked in early childhood education and seeing how children are now being taught about emotions and learning ways to regulate, I have seen how impactful preventative mental health education is.

This is what I am fighting to provide for you.
