Terms of Use

I. Introduction

These policies outline the appropriate usage of Releasing the Phoenix*’s logos, content, research, and intellectual property (IP). Any use outside of the permissions described here requires prior written consent. If your intended use is not covered in this policy, a request form is available at the bottom of this page.

Failure to comply with these policies may result in legal action.

*Releasing the Phoenix is noted as RTP throughout these terms.

II. Authorization to use Releasing the Phoenix educational resources

RTP creates many free and accessible campaigns and educational materials, including guides containing fact sheets, templates, and social media assets, to support mental health advocacy, policy, education, and LGBTQ+ community care. When using RTP resources, you agree to the following conditions:

  1. Original Format: You may use guide materials in their original format for non-commercial, educational purposes without additional permission or attribution to RTP.

  2. Logo Use: You may not add your logo or remove RTP’s logo from materials without written permission.

  3. Customization: You may customize certain elements such as drop-in articles, proclamations, and social media posts to the extent they are designed to be customized and distributed. You may not remove RTP’s name, branding, or other attribution tags when customizing and distributing these materials. You may not alter fact sheets, worksheets, posters, or other content without permission.

  4. Excerpts: You may include excerpts from RTP educational materials in other educational materials, but you must credit RTP using the following format: [Year]. [Guide/resource name]. Releasing the Phoenix. [Campaign webpage].

  5. Distribution: PDF resources can only be linked directly to RTP’s webpage or PDF link. They cannot be hosted on other sites, and we encourage linking to RTP resource webpages.

  6. Translation: Users may translate any excerpts or information that can be edited or adapted according to item 3 so long as the translations are accurate, adhere to the true nature of the content, and in no way stray from the source material’s original intent. If users wish to translate any fact sheets or worksheets, they should contact (sage@releasingthephoenix.org).

  7. Commercial Use: Use of RTP educational materials for commercial, non-educational purposes is strictly prohibited. Use of RTP educational materials for commercial educational purposes requires prior written consent, except for the inclusion of credited excerpts within educational materials in accordance with item 4 above.

Additional notes:

  • Using RTP resources does not grant any rights beyond those stated. RTP retains copyright ownership.

  • Usage does not grant permission to use the RTP logo or imply partnership.

  • Usage does not imply RTP endorsement of your services, product, or organization.

  • RTP may modify these permissions at any time.

By using these materials, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. Failure to comply may result in legal action.

*RTP affiliates may have access to exclusive materials for customization.

III. Authorization to use RTP research reports

RTP regularly publishes research reports, based on both proprietary as well as public data, to inform the public and policymakers. When using RTP reports, you agree to the following terms:

  1. Excerpts: You may reference RTP reports and reproduce limited excerpts for educational and academic purposes with proper citation: [Year]. [Report name]. Releasing the Phoenix. [Report webpage].

  2. Digital Distribution: RTP reports must be accessed from its website. Hosting the PDFs elsewhere is prohibited.

  3. Print Distribution: Written permission is required for reprinting reports. Please contact (sage@releasingthephoenix.org) to gain permission.

IV. Authorization to use RTP website content

All content on releasingthephoenix.org, including articles, images, and videos, is copyrighted by RTP or its partners. Use of this content without RTPs written consent is prohibited. You must also adhere to the following:

  1. Prohibited Uses: Content may not be copied, altered, or distributed without prior consent.

  2. Web Crawling: Data scraping or web crawling is prohibited except by search engines for indexing purposes.

  3. Authorized Use: If you obtain written consent to use website content, the following apply:

    • Content must be used as-is for non-commercial purposes.

    • Any reproduction must include the notice: “Copyright © Releasing the Phoenix [year of publication]. All Rights Reserved” and a citation line.

    • RTP can revoke authorization at any time.

V. Authorization to use RTP social media content

  1. You may share, repost, or like RTP social media content on social media in its original form and using the native capabilities of the social media platform on which RTP originally posted the content.

  2. Altering RTP social media content for reuse is prohibited without prior written permission.

  3. Any other use, reuse, or distribution of RTP social media content is prohibited unless the activity is an approved educational use that complies with Section II above.

VI. Fundraising on behalf of RTP

Releasing the Phoenix relies on grants, donations, and fundraising activities to fund its work. Please note that raising funds on behalf of RTP does not imply that RTP endorses you, your product, or your organization, and does not give you permission to use the RTP logo or branding.

VII. Unauthorized usage of RTP logo, products, and trademarked content

  1. RTP does not permit the use of its logos, name, or content in marketing, advertising, or promotional materials without written authorization and payment of applicable licensing fees.

  2. No one may use a name that is confusingly similar to RTP trademarks unless approved through the RTP affiliation process.

  3. Merchandise bearing RTP trademarks cannot be sold or distributed without prior approval and payment of applicable licensing fees.

  4. RTP can revoke any granted authorization or license, requiring immediate discontinuation of use.

VIII. Limitation of liability

  1. By using RTP’s website, you agree that you will hold harmless RTP and its officers, directors, employees, representatives and volunteers from all claims arising out of or related to your access or use of, or your inability to access or use, this site or the information contained in this site or other websites to which it is linked. This includes but is not limited to: information or materials viewed or downloaded from this site or another website to which it is linked that appear to you to be or may otherwise be construed as obscene, offensive, defamatory, inaccurate, incomplete, or in violation of any proprietary right.

  2. In no event will RTP or the contributors of information to this site be liable to you or anyone else for any decision made or action taken by you based on such information or for any consequential, special or similar damages, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

IX. Endorsements

By using RTP’s website, you acknowledge that the opinions and recommendations contained in this site do not necessarily reflect the views of RTP. RTP may provide links on the site to other websites that are not under the control of RTP. Links to external websites are provided for convenience and are not endorsements.
