A Holistic Mental Health Organization for Our Queer Community

Founded by Sage Nestler, MSW, in 2019

Releasing the Phoenix became a full-scale queer mental health organization in 2025

We provide holistic mental health care centered around the unique experiences of the queer community.

Some services our organization provides, include:

  • Mental health management in the current hostile political climate

  • Access to crisis, mental health, and other resources for queer folks

  • Facilitated low-cost and free support groups that address a variety of topics, while fostering community, connection, and mutual understanding

  • Referrals to trusted mental health and medical professionals, as well as specialized services - such as lawyers, food assistance, etc.

  • Individual and group coaching, with an emphasis on integrating alternative with traditional healing methods tailored for each person and group, including:

    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

    • Bibliotherapy

      • Horror for anxiety, phobia, and trauma

      • Romance/Erotica for exploring sexuality and sex through a safe format

    • Therapeutic Art Coaching & Journaling

    • Nature Therapy

    • Music Therapy

  • Articles and interviews that address mental health from professionals and those with lived experience.

  • Advocacy and continuing education initiatives for health professions. Our goal is to reduce stigma surrounding highlight stigmatized conditions, including:

    • Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

    • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

    • Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)

The Australian Government just passed a law raising the minimum age for social media accounts from 13 to 16 - but the United States has no such law - which is critical for protecting children.

Especially LGBTQ+ and Hispanic youth with the hatred and violence that both communities are experiencing in person and online.
