Mission Statement

Releasing the Phoenix is dedicated to providing the queer community with mental health care, tools, and information to heal and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

Folx within the queer community often experience mental health concerns that are unique to us due to our experiences with societal discrimination, bias, and marginalization.

Those of us at Releasing the Phoenix are all members of the queer community and identify these factors as part of the queer mental health landscape. Sage Nestler, MSW, is passionate about using a holistic approach to examine every factor that influences a person’s mental health, without focusing solely on labels or diagnoses.

We are all a tapestry of experiences and conditions. Acknowledging that intersectionality is important to us.

Our organization is virtual, so we can support queer people worldwide. We also include information and services for alternative healing methods, such as:

  • Therapeutic Art Coaching

  • Bibliotherapy

    • Horror for anxiety, phobia, and trauma

    • Romance/Erotica for exploring sexuality and sex through a safe format

  • Crystal Healing

  • Nature Healing

  • Writing Poetry & Journaling

Advocacy

Advocacy is one of the most important pillars of our practice. While we always focus on advocating for queer mental health, we are also dedicated to focusing on de-stigmatizing and providing education on highly stigmatized disorders – including borderline personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder, and others.
